Hello from the ASICS Christchurch Marathon

ASICS Christchurch Marathon

This is a huge! Say hello to the ASICS Christchurch Marathon.

Built on a shared passion for movement, community, and helping people achieve their goals, this partnership brings together ASICS and the Christchurch Marathon - two brands committed to inspiring runners of all abilities.

Whether you’re chasing a personal best, tackling your first marathon, or simply enjoying the journey, ASICS are excited to support every step of the Christchurch Marathon experience.

Christchurch Marathon Director Chris Cox has welcomed our new Title Partner “It’s so exciting to be partnering with a brand that is synonymous with running at all levels, supporting what has become an iconic marathon event in the New Zealand running calendar. The announcement of our partnership with ASICS means a lot to me personally. I have always trained in ASICS, for both road running and mountain running it’s a brand that’s always worked."

The event will now be known as the ASICS Christchurch Marathon. To have them put their name alongside ours is a massive endorsement for that this event has become. Honestly, we are stoked.

This partnership will shape your training and race day experience and we cannot wait to show you what is coming.

Here’s to the road ahead. See you at the start line.

Entries open - Thu 16 July

Mark it in your calendars, entries open in 2 weeks on Thursday 16 July with full details to follow.

One thing worth noting: the loyalty offer will be back in play for a limited window for 2026 returning athletes. It will not hang around, so when it lands, don’t miss out.

A new-look course for 2027

The growth of this event over the past few years has been incredible. More runners and walkers than ever are lining up to train and race with us, and that is something we love.

It also means we need more room to make sure everyone has space on course. So, to make sure everyone has an enjoyable race day experience we are moving to a longer lap in 2027. The route will feel familiar and the City will bring that big course energy.

The lap structure is changing, following a similar course to the last couple of years plus an extension out East.

  • Marathon: 2 laps

  • Half-Marathon: 1 lap

  • 10k: Just under half a lap (to get the distance right)

Fewer laps, more course, more room. We are thankful to our key stakeholders in their support of this change and working with them on the final layout so stay tuned.
